As we develop and operate properties to maximize their use and promote healthy communities, we also ensure the efficient use of natural resources. We are pleased to announce that Oliver Lofts has received LEED Platinum Certification as of May 2012. This achievement is the highest available certification from the US Green Building Council.
LEED, standing for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, was founded in 2000 by the U.S. Green Building Council and provides building owners and operators with an internationally recognized green building standard. For more information, pleases visit www.usgbc.org.
High Performance Building: Energy usage at Oliver Lofts is 19% lower than building code standards by utilizing efficient lighting, appliances, and mechanical systems paired with enhanced ventilation for cleaner, fresher air. Units are tightly sealed creating a compartmentalized space, resulting in less air infiltration, a quieter unit, and higher energy efficiency. A tan roof will also contribute to a smaller cooling load in the summer months. Energy Star appliances and energy efficient light fixtures were installed.
Built with Environmentally Preferable Products: Many of the finish materials used in Oliver Lofts consist of recycled materials, low emitting adhesives, and little or no VOC’s. When possible, materials were supplied from local sources and suppliers.
Water Conservation: Apartment homes include high efficiency fixtures reduce water usage through low flow toilets, shower heads, and faucets.
Low Construction Waste: Through diligent recycling efforts, over 90% of construction debris was diverted from landfills. Pre-cut framing packages were utilized to also minimize waste.
Sustainable site: By reusing an existing building situated in a dense urban neighborhood, Oliver Lofts is considered a premium site. Residents can take advantage of the urban setting by walking to several neighborhood services, public transportation, and area parks, all within a close distance to downtown Boston.

Adaptive reuse is the process of adapting old structures for new purposes, thus using far less energy and debris than new construction. Many of the original building structure was preserved including existing floors, columns, original wood and concrete ceilings, heavy timber, load bearing masonry and cast-in place concrete. Oliver Lofts has a rich history as it was originally built in 1867 as the Highland Brewing Company and later sold in 1925 to the Oliver Ditson Company, a music publishing facility. In the mid 20th century it was home to the R&S Pickle Company and later hosted a number of publishing companies until the late 1980’s. Today, Oliver Lofts revitalized spaces unite past and present with historic architectural details and sleek modern interior design within the lofts apartments.
We encourage residents to recycle with our incredibly simple stream line recycling program. This means you can recycle cardboard, paper, plastic bottles, glass, aluminum etc all together and all at once! Very easy!
